Dries van Langendonck crowned British Formula 4 champion: 'Amazing'

Published on 10 October 2026 by Niels Hendrix

Dries van Langendonck has become the British Formula 4 champion. The sixteen-year-old Belgian racing talent secured the title in the first race of the championship’s tenth and final round at Brands Hatch, where he finished second. Thanks to eight victories and a consistent season with Rodin Motorsport, Dries is now mathematically out of reach for his rivals with two races still to go.

After clinching the British Formula 4 title, Dries commented: “It is amazing, I am really happy to be champion! It is a special track to do it, I really enjoyed my time out there. I just tried to enjoy it. There wasn’t too much pressure from my side, but obviously I was a bit nervous. I just tried to bring it home to the finish. I knew I did not have to risk too much. It is great to end it like this.”

Dries added: “We all have done a really good job, although at some tracks we struggled a bit more than others, but all in all we have done the best job of everyone. I am really happy with the performance of the team and myself throughout the year.”

Since July of this year, Dries has been under the wing of the Verstappen Racing group. Dries is also part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme and receives additional support and guidance from Max Verstappen and his management team as he progresses through the junior formula categories on his way to Formula 1.

Commenting on this at the time, Max Verstappen said: “I am impressed by the steep progress that Dries has made during his career and the talent he has shown both in karting and in his first steps in open formula racing. I’m convinced that all the signs for becoming a great future driver are there.”
